The Accredited Coach Renewal Scheme
With effect from 1 September 2008, all accredited coaches will be issued with a "Coach Accreditation Card" together with a "Coach Logbook", with a validity of FOUR years upon completion of the Sport-General Theory (Part A) course. Accredited coaches' portrait, accreditation level, and validity period etc. will be displayed on the accreditation card. To maintain a valid "accreditation" status with the HKCC, accredited coaches are required to accumulate sufficient hours of continuing coach education activities in order to meet the renewal requirement.

Supplement use is common among athletes as it may help to meet specific physiological or nutritional needs that enhances sports performance. However, athletes should be aware of the ingredients of the supplement that may lead to a positive doping test. This seminar lists the potential danger of using supplement and highlights the precautions. Nowadays, the fight against doping no longer depends solely on evidences from the laboratory. Athletes and coaches may fall into the trap of inadvertent anti-doping rule violations if they are not familiar with the current regulations. The seminar will also use doping cases to illustrate the need for practical advices for athletes and coaches.

A total of 80 awards in six categories were given to top coaches at the Hongkong Bank Foundation Coaching Awards Presentation held at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on 20 April 2008 (Sunday). Coaches received due recognition for their dedication and contribution behind the scene to bring sporting talents to excellence in the sporting arena.
The six categories of Awards are namely Coach of the Year Awards, Distinguished Services Award for Coaching, Coach Education Award, Best Team Sport Award, Coaching Excellence Awards, and Community Coach Recognition Awards.

The core muscle groups under our lower abdominal and lower back generate power for the whole body,
and stabilize the torso and body posture. They help athletes to perform and reduce sport injuries. This

To prepare athletes for training /competition in the heat, a training strategy must be developed. Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee (HKCC) and the All-China Sports Federation, the annual Hongkong Bank Foundation Elite Coaches Seminar cum Coaching Directors Forum (Seminar) will be held from 2 - 3 December 2005 at the Hong Kong Sports Institute. Olympic gold medal-winning coaches, Rene Appel (Hong Kong), Glenn Beringen (Australia), Chen Zhonghe (China) and Sun Haiping (China) will share their experiences on coaching world-class athletes with local and overseas coaches at the Seminar. While food and drinks supplement can restore muscle energy, maximizing athletes' recovery from muscle fatigue after training is also important to athletes' performance. Coaches received due recognition for working tirelessly behind the scenes at the prestigious annual Hongkong Bank Foundation Coaching Awards Presentation at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on 24 April 2005 (Sunday).
There were a total of 61 awards handed out at the Presentation representing six categories !V Coach of the Year Awards, Coaching Excellence Awards, Best Team Sport Award, Distinguished Services Award for Coaching, Coach Education Award and Community Coach Recognition Awards
A "Special Recognition Award" was presented to Hong Kong table tennis team's head coach Hui Jun, for his outstanding contribution to the sport from junior to elite level.

- "The Design of On-field Fitness Testing" Workshop
Good physical fitness is the foundation in sport performance. To closely monitor training progress, coaches can conduct relevant fitness tests to identify athletes' weaknesses for further development in sport. Mr Cheng Wai Ming, Physical Education Instructor of Hong Kong Baptist University was invited to share his knowledge in designing and implementing on-field physical fitness test in sports training.

The first ever Asian Regional Coaching
Conference was successfully held between 25-27 February
2005 in Hong Kong. Over 180 participants from 19
countries were attracted to the Conference.
